ΑΣΤΥΠΑΛΙΤΙΚΟ ΚΑΡΝΑΒΑΛΙ 2002

Γιορτάστηκε και φέτος με μεγάλο ενθουσιασμό και την συμμετοχή όλων, μικρών και μεγάλων το Καρναβάλι στο νησί.

Δεν έλειψαν και οι φίλοι της Αστυπάλαιας που παρά τον άστατο καιρό τόλμησαν το ταξίδι  και ήρθαν να γιορτάσουν μαζί μας.

Οι παραδοσιακές «Μοσχάρες» έκαναν συχνές εμφανίσεις καθ’ολη την διάρκεια του Καρναβαλιού, το τελευταίο Σαββατοκύριακο όμως έγιναν παντού πάρτι μεταμφιεσμένων.

Ο Πολιτιστικός  Σύλλογος οργάνωσε  σχεδόν όλες τις εκδηλώσεις του Δήμου και έδωσε τα χρηματικά βραβεία.

Το Κυνήγι του Θησαυρού, όπου έλαβαν μέρος 3 ομάδες παιδιών,  άρχισε το Σάββατο με «δοκιμασίες» και έκλεισε την Κυριακή με «ερωτήσεις γνώσεων». 

Το απομεσήμερο της Κυριακής  μικροί και μεγάλοι μαζεύτηκαν  στην παλιά γειτονιά του Κάστρου – στον Πάλλο – με τους ευκαλύπτους.  Εκεί, και όπως είναι η παράδοση, με πολύ κέφι και πειράγματα,  γαμπρός και νύφη με συμπεθέρους, παπά και συμβολαιογράφο, έκαναν τον Γάμο….Τα στενά του  Κάστρου ζωντάνεψαν από τραγούδια, γέλια, μασκαράδες, και κομφετί.  Τα παιδιά ήταν παντού, υπέροχα με τα κοστούμια τους και την χαρά τους, και ήταν όλο μια μαγική παράσταση κάτω από τα πανύψηλα Δένδρα. 

Ακολούθησε η Αποκριάτικη παρέλαση στην πλατεία του χωριού, στους Μύλους. Μασκαράδες παντού.  Γυναίκες με πιατέλες προσέφεραν στον κόσμο δίπλες.

Άρματα  φτιαγμένα από τα παιδιά του Σχολίου, αλλά και από δυο ομάδες μεγάλων, με κέφι, μουσική και χορό, παρέλασαν και σατίρισαν την επικαιρότητα.  Εντυπωσιακή ήταν  η φαντασία αλλά και το χιούμορ των παιδιών  που κατάφεραν με ευρηματικότητα  και πολύ λυτά μέσα να εκφράσουν την άποψή τους και να διακωμωδήσουν πολιτικές προσωπικότητες και καταστάσεις.  Το μήνυμα πάντως ήταν ξεκάθαρο – «Όχι Πόλεμο»!!

Οι εορτασμοί έκλεισαν με τα Κούλουμα που οργάνωσε και πάλι ο Πολιτιστικός σύλλογος.  Αυτή τη φορά στην πανέμορφη Φλεβαριώτισσα, με δωρεάν φαγοπότι, γλέντι και χορό, και βεβαίως  το παραδοσιακό πέταγμα του χαρταετού.

Και του χρόνου, και καλή Σαρακοστή.!!  

Carnival in Astypalea.!!

With great enthusiasm and with the whole village in attendance Astypalea celebrated again this year the Carnival.  Also present were friends of Astypalea who dared the unstable weather to travel and celebrate with us.  The traditional “Moshares” (masquerade) appeared quite often during the whole Carnival period and played tricks on everyone. By the last week- end costume parties were happening everywhere.

The Cultural Society organized almost all of the Town activities and offered the cash prizes. 

There was a Treasure Hunt, Saturday and Sunday, with three different groups of school children competing on pantomime, creativity and questions of knowledge.

Early Sunday afternoon everybody came up to the Kastro, and gathered at the terraced garden with the enormous eucalyptus trees, known as “Pallos”.  It’s one of the very old and central neighborhoods, where traditionally the “Carnival wedding” has always taken place…Bride and groom, their families, priest and notary, (men dressed as women and vise versa) with teasing and shocking jokes, laughter and music reenacted the dowry agreement and finally the wedding.  The narrow streets of the Castro came alive with masquerades, excitement, song and confetti.  Children were everywhere, superb in their colorful costumes and joy, and it was all like a magical performance under the high trees.

The Carnival parade followed at the village square by the windmills.  Once more Masquerades were everywhere. Women with platters offered home made sweets to the crowd.   Floats made by groups of children and adults, with music and dance paraded and satirized current news events.  Impressive was the creativity of the children who managed with limited means but with great humor and fantasy, to express their point of view and make light of political personalities and situations.

The message this year was very clear: “ No War”.!!! The celebrations came to an end on Monday- with Koulouma- the traditional picnic, this year held in beautiful Flevariotissa.  Music, dance and free eating and drinking, as well as the flying of kites, was organized and provided for by the Cultural Society of Astypalea, to mark the beginning of Lent.

All had a wonderful time!!!
